Elizabeth Atwater Menes ("Pearl") is a fiction writer and historian with a background in costume design. Elizabeth has created costumes for theatrical and Hollywood film productions, and she lives on Pearl Street in creative West Los Angeles, California.
Rebecca Menes ("Lee") is a PhD economic historian with a background in business as the proprietor of The Vintage Cookie. Rebecca is also the homeschooling mom of a wonderful eight-year old, and she lives on Lee Street in historic Alexandria, Virginia.
Elizabeth and Rebecca grew up touring the Eastern United States with The Dragon Marionettes puppet company. They have worked on theatrical scripts, props and costumes since their teensy fingers could hold pens, hammers and needles.
Rebecca and Elizabeth – Lee & Pearl – would love to make sure other children have as much fun with imaginative play as they remember having.
You can use Lee & Pearl Sewing Pattern 1001 to create a variety of relaxed fit, "plain white T" style shirts for 18" dolls (American Girl-sized) with crew neck and V-neck, long and short sleeve options.
This pattern came about after our designer tried to find a relaxed fit, boy-appropriate T-shirt that could be used in a layered outfit. Every unfitted T she tried also featured unfitted sleeves that bunched up and got in the way of jackets or other outer garments. Armed with an understanding of the relationship between the pattern armscye curve and the resulting sleeve cap, our designer knew she could do better. The result is this pattern: uniquely drafted to produce sleeves that fit snugly all the way up to a narrow armhole - ideal for layering under anything you please! As you can see from our photos, the resulting T-shirts look great by themselves as well, either on American Girl dolls or "American boy" customs.
With all Lee & Pearl patterns your packet includes computer drafted, fully marked and guaranteed-to-fit-together pattern pieces, as well as step-by-step, photo-illustrated instructions.
