Pattern Description:

Completely hand sewn, this chubby little hippo is the perfect no-machine project. Very simple to make, this little fellow is very friendly and just a little bit shy.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • block approx: 4 inches high
  • hippo approx: 7 inches high


  • 13 x 10 inches (33 x 25cm) hippo coloured felt
  • 10 x 5 inches (25 x 13cm) for block
  • 2 x 2 inches (5 x 5cm) felt for letter background
  • Cosmo Embroidery threads 800, 3865,600 and 894 or substitute colours from your preferred brand
  • One pair of 4.5 mm safety eyes
  • Two 9mm buttons (four holes)
  • Two 15mm buttons (four holes)
  • Doll needle (extra long needle for button joints)
  • 1/2 cup of stuffing pellets
  • Hobby fill
