The Dala Horse, from the Dalecarian region of Sweden, is a centuries old Swedish national symbol. It began as a childrens' toy, but grew to mean a great deal to the country and remains a symbol of tradition, steadfastness, and creativity. Craftsmen and women have carved the little horse for generations from pine and painstakingly handpainted them, and they are the most popular souvenir for visitors of Sweden.
Now you can sew a plush version of this folk symbol! Using just a third yard of red fabric, and scraps of ribbon and felt, recreate the spirit of the Dala Horse. Or choose different colors and make the horse your own! Perfect for adding a splash of color to your home dcor, or makes a great gift for children. Make one to add to your Dala horse collection, or make a dozen and start a brand new collection! The finished horse is 11 inches tall, and 9.5 inches from nose to tail.
