Sofi was a tiny 1 ½ pound bundle of Yorkie energy when she came into my life in August of 2009. I had wanted a little companion for several years and now the timing was right. The remainder of that summer was spent learning to potty train Sofi – I was as new to the process as she was! Book after book repeated the difficulty of potty training toy breeds but I hoped to accomplish it before winter set in. Well, winter came and I found myself outside in the freezing winter cold with Sofi shivering at my side. I set out to find a tiny coat to keep Sofi warm during our frequent outdoor potty sessions. After a disappointing and fruitless search, I decided to make my own coat. A simple fleece jacket was designed and made in three different sizes that winter. She was growing so fast! Then jackets were made for my son’s little dogs and dresses soon followed. My kids urged me to make and sell the dog clothes but it just wasn’t the right fit. I loved making dog clothes but the fun part was creating the patterns! I had worked 20+ years in the design industry specializing in kitchen design – design was my passion. So I transferred my dog clothes designs from paper to computer and Sofi & Friends was born. I hope you enjoy browsing my pattern selections as much as I enjoy making them and I look forward to seeing photos of your little creations!
P.S. Sofi is now potty trained :)
