This pattern is a more advanced version of my Composition book covers that I originally designed to show off some of my sunprinted, painted and hand dyed fabrics. You can use a number of commercial fabrics, or use various fabrics you have modified with various surface design techniques. Covered composition books are perfect for journals and even can be used as sketch books. They make ideal gifts for any occasion, and will last through many books- when one is full, just remove and replace with a new book.

This pattern guides you with 13 pages of instructions, including over 35 full color photos, to make a decorative, durable and reusable cover for your composition notebook. It is a suitable project for beginners who are willing to learn new skills, to advanced textile artists. A detailed materials and supply list tells you exactly what you need, and also gives you information about substitute materials in case the exact ones are not available near you. Use your own creativity to add your own personal touch to your covers.
