6 WASHABLE, FABRIC PHOTO FRAME SEWING PATTERNS
All you need is fabric, ribbon, mat board or cardboard, an acid free sheet protector page, thread, and Thermoweb Heat n Bond Ultrahold, a paper backed, iron on, fabric adhesive - everything, including tools, except for the sewing machine and iron, can be bought at a craft or fabric store!
You'll print the patterns directly onto Ultrahold cut to 8 1/2" x 11" pieces, a length of ribbon per frame size to connect the bottom right corner of the strut leg pocket to the back of the frame, mat board or cardboard for removable easel back & strut leg boards that slide out of their pockets, the sheet protector is the photo's protective sleeve.
First off, I LOVE FABRIC, and in making fabric photo frames, sewn & washable was the way to go! It took me 5 years, but I invented them in 2005, and now I am sharing them with you!
Two of my washable, sewn, fabric photo frames and tutorial were featured in Sew I Today magazine, last year, showing chevron & medallion fabric from the Trapeze collection, from The Fabric Loft at Target!
In how I came about inventing these frames, I found that the fabric photo frames out on the market were not washable.
By 2005, I had come up with a structure to make them WASHABLE and SEWN plus 6 size patterns, and ditched my easel hinge and hanger press (plus the $16 screw broke on the arm of it lol). This would make the fabric picture frames much more sustainable, and durable. Crafters can also make my NO SEW, washable., fabric photo frames, invented this year in 2015.
My customers love them, some come back and buy more, others refer family and friends, or have me make something different with fabric lol. One customer had me take her late husband's neckties and turn them into washable, sewn, necktie and fabric picture frames, and she had their family friend, President Bill Clinton sign the photos of himself and my customer's late husband, to put in the frames. The photos are on my site at fabricatedframes.com, as well as here on Craftsy, where you can make an 8x10" frame for a 5x7" photo using cut up neckties, you'll see a photo of President Clinton shown next to my customer's late husband at http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/sewing/home-decor/washable-sewn-fabric-frame-5x7-photo/96026
People can also recycle, repurpose, upscycle fabric, textile swatches and scraps, neckties, into fabric picture frames with this download. Just attach and iron the adhesive side of the paper backed Ultrahold Heat n Bond patterns to the back of the fabric panel parts, that you can print with your inkjet printer. Transfer the paper patterns onto clear sheet protector pages, cut out, & take with you to the fabric store to decide where and how much fabric you'll need in case you get a unique pattern that is hard to configure in the layout stage. Just place each clear pattern part over the rolled out fabric, and take it to the cutting table, and have the fabric cutting associate help you out.
You can buy fabric with my art for sale, in repeat patterns, at http://spoonflower.com/profiles/fabricatedframes & at http://zazzle.com/fabricatedframes/fabric and you will see on Zazzle that I have pre - formatted photo frame panel part layouts on yard, swatch, and fat quarter panels, for crafters and quilters to make fabric photo frames from them.
