Pattern Description:

I learned this technique from a friend and then wrote my own version of the tutorial. It's a super easy, super fast way to make pillowcases. I've also heard it called "Burrito" and "Taco."

I originally posted this tutorial on my blog for the American Patchwork & Quilting's 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge. I made oodles of these for the Challenge, and I use this method whenever I "gift" a quilt. It makes a fabulous coordinating gift bag!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Makes one standard size pillowcase


  • 9" - 12" "bun" fabric (pillow cuff)
  • 2" - 3" "mustard" fabric (flange)
  • 24" - 26" "hot dog" fabric (body) Note: bigger pillows? Just add more to the length here!

You Will Also Need:

  • sewing machine
  • rotary cutting supplies (optional, but they sure do make it easier!)
  • thread
  • scissors
