Pattern Description:
I wanted to have a candy related Advent calendar, and also needed something different to decorate by stair case bannister with, so i chose to combine the two into this Candy Cane Advent Pennant! It looks so good on the bannister that I made another one for my fireplace mantle! These are great for your family, or for those drop-in guests the holidays always bring with it. These would also be great hanging over each bed in your house. You can tailor them to the style and decor of each room, and the personalities of each user. I have included additional uses for these in my pattern so you can use this pattern all year and for literally every occasion. Pennants are so hot right now and this is such a creative way to USE them for more than just a decoration. I hope you love making these as well as using and giving them as gifts.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Homespun Candy Cane Pennant is 57" long, pennants are 8 1/2" wide by 11" high
- Traditional Candy Cane Advent Pennant is 8 3/4' long, pennants are 11" high x 10" wide
- You can add additional length if you wish to
Materials:
- Homespun Candy Cane Pennant 1/3 yard Burlap; 1/4 yard Homespun 2 Fat Quarter Homespun 1 1/2 yard Lining(natural muslin) 1/3 yd lightweight fusible interfacing Fat quarter or remnant of Homespun 3 57" Jute -wide strap material with red stripes
- Traditional Candy Cane Pennant: 1/4 yard: Fabric 1 Fat Quarter of : Fabric 2 1/4 yard of Fabric 3 1/3 yd lightweight fusible interfacing 11 feet Double Fold Bias Seam Binding 1 pkg each color of Contrast Piping Three sizes buttons each in three complimentary colors
You Will Also Need:
- Coordinating thread
- welting/piping foot or Zipper foot
- needle suggestion: 80 and 100
- Water soluble marker
- sewing machine
- scissors
- computer/printer
- 24 candy canes
- scotch guard fabric protectant
