My name is Helen Newton and I am based in Cheshire in the UK. Fabric is my passion and I love to create beautiful yet practical items from designer and vintage fabrics. Lilly*Blossom was formed in 2007 to share my enthusiasm for creating wonderful handmade possessions to be proud of.
The Lilly*Blossom collection of sewing and craft guides have been created with beginners in mind. Each one has easy to folllow step-by-step instructions in straight forward language, illustrated with lots of close up photographs.
My aim is to inspire you to create something beautiful and original. No advanced sewing experience is necessary to complete any these projects, just some basic sewing equipment, your favourite fabric and a keenness to have a go! See how easy it is to make a wonderful handmade gift for someone special.
If you enjoy sewing why not try making your own Lilly*Blossom Bow cushion(pillow) cover using two contrasting fabrics and my easy to follow, fully illustrated PDF sewing guide.
This cushion cover has the opening at the front, tied with a bow and shows just a hint of the lining panel underneath. You can adjust how much of the lining shows through by how tight you fasten the bow. There are no difficult zips to insert.
The 10 page sewing guide is suitable for anyone who has basic experience of using a sewing machine to stitch straight and zigzag seams and following simple sewing instructions. It is written in clear simple to follow text with lots of close up photographs to help you every step of the way.
You will need to make a paper template (pattern pieces) using four rectangular shapes on card or paper. Tip: I use a roll of spare wallpaper or lining paper for my templates as it's long lasting and much less expensive than buying large sheets of card or taping paper together.
This design uses two coordinating fabrics, one for the main cover and a contrasting one for the lining panel and ties. Try out different combinations from your fabric collection. Every time you will have a new and orignal cushion cover.
