Hi. I love this dress and thought it would be great for nursing my baby. One thing though, your pattern is not for the full busted ;-) I added a few inches to the length of the bodice and it is a much better fit for me. Question on the instructions. When you cut the waist band did you intend for it to be in two separate pieces or cut on the fold? I did cut on the fold and since it was only sewn up on one side it didn't hold the pleats as well, so my guess would be that you intended it to be cut two. My version of the pattern did not specify. Thanks for the cute dress.

Hi Daniela. I love this pattern! Have a couple of questions. When I print my pattern, even when I explicitly say 0.00 overlap in the print dialogue of Adobe, the pieces still print with a small margin around the edges. Your tutorial said to NOT overlap but I'm worried that if I don't the pattern will be too big in some places (also the printing on the pieces, the #'s of the pages all have big gaps). Also, the 1" square is more like 7/8ths of an inch square. I don't think it should make too big a difference in this garment but wanted to find out what you suggest if the 1" square isn't true to 1" square. (hope that makes sense)!

Hi Lisa, thanks for you comments. I have checked the pattern. You might overlap by 0.01 cm (0.005 inch)
The square is, indeed too small. My mistake, I tried to make the letters smaller and I did everything together :(
The numbers, as you mentioned are moved to the side (right side), especially the 2 digit ones at the end of the rows (such as 21)

I will fix that ASAP.

The good thing is that the pattern pieces you have printed are the right sizes.

Thanks again for letting me know!

HI Daniela! Thanks so much for the reply. Well, good to know my pattern pieces are the right size since I just printed them out for a second time :-) (yes, I'm one of those OCD / perfectionist types that second guesses myself to the point of craziness sometimes). I'll work it out with the ones I have. I"m so excited to make this dress. I already have two more people lined up wanting me to make one for them as well! Thanks again!

Hello again, Daniela. Sorry to be a pest! I just want to be sure I'm understanding correctly. Is there a way to send you three photos I've taken of two pattern pieces.

In the first I've marked the 1cm margin with lines.

In the second, I've shown a view which just overlaps that 1cm portion (in which case, the large numbers have a gap and the pattern lines don't meet),

In the third, I've removed the 1cm margin and "butted" the pieces together (in which case, the large numbers align, the lines of the pattern lines "meet")

Could you advise which way is the right way to put these together? When i did my first pass using the "remove the margin and butt the pieces together" method, the bodice pieces ultimately didn't line up properly for some reason.

Thanks for any help! (I just don't want to mess it up this time and have to reprint the whole thing again)

Hi Lisa,

No problem, send me the pictures at pallerna@hotmail.com and I will take a look.

For the record, the margin are 0.01, which is so tiny, that it creates more confusion than help.

Let me see how I can help

Daniels, I've just pieced this together but am struggling a bit. The pattern pieces don't seem to match. The bodice side seams are different lengths, the two sides of the skirt piece are different and the waistband doesn't match the bottom edge of the bodice. Also if the front wraps over completely that doesn't match either the back or the waistband. Is it my printing that's gone awry?

Daniela Gutierrez-Diaz on craftsy.com

Hi Emma, Thanks for contacting me. I have checked on the points you have mentioned and I measured on size 10. The skirt length should be 65.5 cms (25.7 inches) The front bodice should give you 14.5 inches and the back is 18 (when putting both sides of it)

You are right about the waistband, and the sides seams. The waistband is a bit too short for the bodice. Sorry about that. I shows me 30.8 inches wide when the total of the bodice pieces gives me 32.4

And the sides seam of the back should be half an inch longer.

Thanks for noticing those details! I will be working on that tomorrow to get those measurement fixed.

My apologies,

Daniela

Hi Emma, I just wanted to let you know that I have made the changes on the pattern as we discussed before. The pattern is made to fit letter size paper. If you are using A4 paper (I have some people concerned about that) please send me an email at pallerna@hotmail.com and I send you the A4 size paper version as well.
