Pattern Description:

Harem pants are wonderfully cute and comfortable. They can be made using any stretch fabric. Cotton jersey, fleece, minky or velour make excellent choices, with cotton ribbing being the best for the waist and leg cuffs. An overlocker will give you a neater finish, but a regular sewing machine will work just fine, and I include instructions for both. The pattern is for long pants, but once you get the hang of it they can easily be adapted to make short like Jack is wearing in this picture!

This is a very easy pattern to use, the only slightly tricky part if you are a complete beginner, is sewing with stretch fabrics. But don't worry, I give you lots of hints and tips.

  • Newborn - 22 x 64cm cotton jersey, 10 x 50cm cotton ribbing
  • 0-3 months - 24 x 70cm cotton jersey, 11 x 54cm cotton ribbing
  • 3-6 months - 27 x 72cm cotton jersey, 12 x 61cm cotton ribbing
  • 6 - 12 months - 33 x 88cm cotton jersey, 13 x 68cm cotton ribbing
  • Age 1 - 39 x 96cm cotton jersey, 14 x 77cm cotton ribbing
  • Age 2 - 45 x 100cm cotton jersey, 15 x 82cm cotton ribbing
  • An overlocker/serger is useful, but not necessary.
