Basic Skills Necessary:

  • *I love using my serger and cover stitch for all knit construction. If you don't have a serger, suitable stitches are: zig zag or overlock (remember no back stitching when using an overlock!) When using a straight stitch, increase length to allow for stretch.
  • *Remember the stretch of the fabric always goes around the body.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Grey-Red See size chart.

  • *Fabric: I prefer a lighter weight knit for this top, especially the ruffle. When you use a light, silky, drapey knit the ruffle falls beautifully. A rayon jersey, featherweight jersey, or even burn out jersey would be great. If you aren't comfortable with knits, you can use a more stable knit as well: cotton jersey, cotton interlock.
  • *About 1 yard of ribbon, in whatever width you prefer. I like to use 1"-2"satin. You could also use a woven bias tape, make woven straps or use knit binding
  • *1/2" hem tape highly suggested
  • *Ball point, stretch, or jersey needle
  • *Basics: thread, scissors, ruler, rotary cutter, hem gauge.
