My mother and I made my first sewing project when I was 5: a drawstring purse out of a beautiful butterfly-print cotton. Years later, I'm still sewing, and I love to share my designs with others. My ...

I am interested in this pattern, what are the measurements from shoulder to shoulder in the back?

I have some silk from china that is a reversible fabric. Would this make an ideal fabric for this pattern?

I have made 3 so far and each one has been loved. I'll be making more for gifts. It's nice to give a handmade gift that is beautiful and not "homemade" looking. Padding a hanger w/ the same fabric is a nice touch for a gift.

Just received an email saying the pattern had been updated. Wondering what the changes to it are. I've already made one using hot pink charmeuse with white pin dots and it turned out great for it being the first time I'd ever sewn with slippery fabric. I did notice however that the collar is a little too short for the garment. It pulls a bit when wearing it and it pulls up the front pieces too a tad. Will lengthen that next time to prevent all of that. Perhaps that was the update????? Anyone know? Anywho, I love it!!! Was my first time doing the french seams too and they were so easy and look beautiful!

Hi Carla, It was just a small change. I had forgotten to specify the 5/16" seam allowance for the armhole. So I added that to the PDF.

I'll check the length of the collar too.

Thanks for using Atelier Joy's pattern!

This is an easy pattern to follow. I made the short bathrobe for my daughter to wear on her wedding day while getting ready. Made a matching cosmetic bag.

What a great idea! I had thought that a white robe with blue piping trim would be a perfect bridal gift. And I love the matching bag idea. Thanks, Stephanie!

Really easy and lovely project. This years gift to my friends and family.
Cotton voile is super nice to use. Things i did differently. Sewed the shoulder seam down ala flat feld seam. Added a loop to the inside neck for hook hanging. Finally in the future will sew the belt loops into the seam, and will make it 4 inches wide sewing making it lay flat on the outside. This will also allow a little room for different waist drops.

I thought of the loop too to hang it with just after finishing it martharing! Wish I would have thought of it earlier!!! I like the idea of sewing the belt loops into the seam!!!

Thanks, Martharing! I'm so glad that you've enjoyed the pattern and made it your own. Wonderful touches and I"ll consider adding them when I update the pattern next time.

I made four of these robes for my bridesmaids, they all loved them! I added a loop at the neck to hand them from, also I made the length in between the two lengths listed in the pattern which turned out perfect for my friends! Overall great pattern!
