Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic sewing skills and ability to read and follow GREAT directions that are given both written, photos and audio!

Pattern Description:

I created this classic cardigan style jacket on a sweatshirt base to be used as a first sweatshirt jacket project with great FIT. Seeing the sweatshirt as 'fabric and matching ribbing' serves to fast forward through fitting issues, and move the sleeve seam to the natural shoulder line.
The neckline and center front is created from the lower ribbing of the sweatshirt!
Added features include an extensive Embellishment Library of techniques, photos, AND design principles to guide and filter your decisions.
I truly developed and wrote this pattern with the beginning level sewer in mind and use it at my hands-on workshops as I travel the country teaching creative sewing on...a comfy knit: a sweatshirt!
My 'Talking Patterns' is my invention of a website (URL given inside the PDF pattern) where you see a colored photo of absolutely EVERY step of the design and creation of these jackets PLUS my personally-recorded audio directions telling you what to do (or NOT to do) in that step. Of course, the most important photos are included in the PDF pattern along with awesome written directions.
