: Contrast trim back pockets

: Extra Tutorial #1: How to make your own custom binding.
: Extra Tutorial #2: How to attach binding.

: Quilting cotton, corduroy, denim, cotton drill. Ensure your fabric is not too thin. Do not use muslin or thin voile weight.
: If your fabric has a one-way print, ensure all pieces run the same way along the selvage.

TECHNIQUES: Straight stitch, binding, topstitching, inserting elastic.

LEVEL: Intermediate (with step by step instructions for each technique)

  • safety pin for inserting elastic

  • bias tape maker (optional)

You Will Also Need:

  • fabric - 100% cotton is recommended
  • thread
  • 3/4" (20mm) adjustable (buttonhole) elastic
  • 1 x 3/8-5/8" (10-15mm) flat button for inside waistband
  • 1 x 5/8"-3/4" (15-20mm) button for front waistband
  • bias tape (optional)
  • lightweight fusible interfacing
