Some of my earliest memories creating include splatter painting with a toothbrush, deconstructing bags of discarded jewelry, Femo critters and decoupaged Easter eggs in fancy rice paper napkin veneer. Armed with sewing materials and an old machine, it was around the age of ten when I gravitated towards fashion after sewing my very own own apron-dress complete with a hidden pocket for my pet rat. My older sisters' closet, full of clothes that were too big for me was like a second wardrobe... after all the alterations I would make to it. I'm still apologizing for sewing in the side seams so many times on her favorite jean jacket. From there on, garment design became an obsession fueled by a desire to create items that flattered me, fit well, and were functional.
Opportunities to be creative at a young age encouraged my passion as a teenager in high school sewing and textile classes. Studying at Kwantlen University college led me into industry opportunities brimming with enthusiastic instructors and eventually to Leslie Gladman and Favorite Things Pattern Designs where I jumped at the opportunity to design for them. Working with them for the past five years continues to be a precious experience.
There is nothing more inspiring than being surrounded by great family and awesome friends! After having a child of my own, many of my concepts and inspirations come from the simplest necessities of motherhood and real life. I am passionate about color, fabric and design but mostly embracing my role as wife and mother of my growing family.
In sharing my sewing inspiration with you, I hope to bring a collection of affordable, high quality PDF patterns. In doing so, you will identify with the movement of home sewers across the continent who harness their creative energy by sewing things that are beautiful, practical and fun!
