Hi, I'm Samantha, aka Mrs H. I live in the beautiful South Wales valleys with my husband Dus and our unfortunately nicknamed daughter Elvis. I write sewing patterns for bags and love seeing what you create with my designs!
Check out my blog www.handmadebymrsh.blogspot.com for a bit more about our funny little life here in Wales.
This pattern is currently being re-worked. If you purchase before the end of August, you will automatically receive the updated copy on release.
The Bookbag Backpack is a multi-purpose bag that is perfect for commuters and students, for busy parents, or for days out and travelling.
This adaptable bag has three different types of strap, making it readily adjustable to your needs - backpack straps, top handles, and a detachable shoulder strap. The large front panel of the Bookbag Backpack is perfect for showing off feature fabrics. And, the handy pockets make it easy to keep track of where you've stowed your belongings. The pattern includes a hidden zipped pocket on the front, for storing your keys or travel card, and a zipped pocket inside for smaller items.
With finished dimensions of 12" (30.5 cm) wide, 14" (35.5 cm) tall, and 3" (7.5 cm) deep, this versatile bag is big enough to hold multiple items. One tester managed to fit a laptop, an A4 folder, and her book into the bag, as well as her usual travel items!
The bag can be stabilised with either fusible fleece or Soft & Stable depending on how sturdy you wish it to be. For extra strength, you can choose to add optional rivets to the bag.
This PDF pattern for the Bookbag Backpack features eleven pages of comprehensive instructions and coloured photographs, including instructions for a unique lining insertion method, achieved without hand stitching and with no need to bind the inside seams. It is classified as an advanced pattern and may be tricky for beginners.
The Bookbag Backpack pattern is written in UK English and has been thoroughly tested by a team of expert pattern testers.
If you wish to save ink, please send me a message with your invoice number and I will email you the text only version of the pattern within 24 hours.
