That Shopping Bag

That Shopping Bag

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You will need to know how to use your sewing machine, and how to sew oil-cloth (PVC coated) fabric on it.

Pattern Description:

The need to carry around shopping bags became apparent when the supermarkets stopped putting our groceries in bags! So I came across some PVC coated fabrics and just had to make a bag for the groceries, or to take to the market, or just because! I was thrilled that the fabric is so readily available these days. This bag is designed to fold up flat when not in use so it is easy to store in the car or some convenient spot.

The pattern describes how to cut and sew up the bag and include a tab with Velcro fastening so it can be folded up when not in use. Because the pattern uses PVC coated fabric, the edges are not turned in as the fabric won't fray. Really, I don't know how I survived without these! They make terrific gifts also.
