Create a padded tote or sleeve in your favorite fabrics to protect laptops or tablets from dust and scratches!
The Tablet/Netbook Sleeve PDF contains 10 pages and is loaded with 30 step-by-step photos! There is no hand sewing necessary, and the machine sewing is very straightforward. While this project is more involved than a pillowcase or basic gathered skirt, it is within the abilities of most beginning sewists who are comfortable with sewing on a machine and ready to move on.
Finished sleeve measures approximately 11" long and 8 & 1/4" wide with a 1" gusset. (28 x 21 x 2.5 cm) and should fit any device that does not exceed 11" x 7 3/4" x 1 1/4". The devices pictured are a Toshiba Thrive and HP Netbook. You are welcome to adjust the size of this pattern to suit your needs. Regardless of finished size, sleeves created from this pattern should be credited to NGH Designs.
This case is made primarily from rectangles so only the shaped closing flaps are provided as full-sized, printable pattern pieces. A rotary cutter, guide, & mat are recommended to make fast work of cutting out the rectangles needed to construct this project. If you don't have a rotary cutter, no worries! Just cut pieces of paper (packing, tissue or wrapping paper, shopping bags, whatever!) to the dimensions listed and use those just as you would a regular sewing pattern. The pattern was designed for quilting weight cottons, but other light to medium weight woven fabrics should work equally well.
Your PDF sewing pattern will be sent to you via email automatically once your payment has cleared! This is a digital file and not a hard copy of the pattern, or a finished item.

I currently work from home, but used to do other things that required dressing up, commuting in big city traffic, long hours, and hasty meals at my desk. In my former life I was a congressional staffer, lobbyist, management consultant, & published author. I come from a capable and artistic family and gleefully dive into just about any project that doesn't involve electricity, or heights. I've designed my own patterns for over 20 years and sew a LOT costumes for community theater groups as well as my own children and sometimes even the dogs -- who are very good sports.
