Pattern Description:

I designed this bag to be constructed completely from recycled materials. The main body of the bag is done in a heavy weight wool from a thrifted grey wool skirt. The skirt cost me $2 and I got two bags out of it! The lining was once an pair of curtains and the applique on the front was from a t-shirt that no longer fit. I hope this bag will show you that 'upcycled' can be pretty darn fashionable and affordable. I hope you have fun making it and even more fun finding a fun skirt to transform!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

18cm x 30cm

Materials:

0,5m heavy wool fabric (or one thrifted wool skirt!)
0.5m quilting cotton for lining
30cm x 15cm piece medium weight interfacing (Vilene S320)
25cm x 4cm piece heavy weight interfacing (Vilene S520)

You Will Also Need:

1 magnetic snap
1 button or applique for front
Sewing needle and thread

This pattern was perfect for a complete novice like me, the instructions were really clear and the added pictures made it simple to follow each step.

What's also great is the basic pattern is so classic that you can really add your own personal touches with different material or decorations on the outside.

I am so please with the results that I'm going to make lots for presents for friends!!!

This was a lovely pattern to follow, as i hadn't made a bag with Darts before, had a few problems with lining up, but did resolve this, Also made in a few other fabrics, as was enjoyable to make, and got great feedback, Did not have any thick materials, as i think the darts would of shown more on thicker fabric,but very pleased with the way it turned out on thinner fabric x

Very cute and made entirely in a day, just a few hours really. Not sure why but to have my edges line up after making the darts I had to press AWAY from center. Approximate US measurements along side the metric ones would have been helpful.
