I'm a beginner sewer and this was an easy project to sew. The instructions were excellent and I really liked the accompanying photos. I also love this thread catcher!

Is the trash bin collapsible for storage?

Tammy, the bag is not rigid and will "collapse", but it will be wrinkled. When I transport my thread catcher, I remove the pincushion from the tile, fold the tile into the bag then put the pincushion inside, as well. I place it on my sewing machine throat. Then my machine goes into my rolling sewing machine carrier. Works perfectly!
