I enjoy giving a new life to items that have outlived their usefulness; such as feedbags and coffee bags upcycled into totes; make broom handles into looms then weave rags into rugs. I volunteer at several local organizations where I serve on committees, participate in projects, and teach. I have many hobbies but weaving became my obsession when I realized I could take a discarded broom or mop handle and make a simple backstrap loom that I can weave many useful and beautiful item on, such as rag rugs from discarded textiles, i.e. t-shirts, sheets, old clothing. I enjoy learning and sharing knowledge about handcrafting and sustainable living. I up-cycle materials to promote awareness for recycling through maggiescornerdotorg with all proceeds dedicated to operate the recycling and education efforts. Join me or start your own upcycle group in your town to recycle, reuse, re-purpose, and educate others. I also have tutorials showing how to salvage material such as coffee bags, feed bags, then layout, and sew the material into useful items such as carryall shopping market totes and handbags.
This listing is an instant download Sewing Tutorial
2 for 1 tutorial - you get two tutorials in this listing. One is 19 pages and the other is a 14 pages
The 19 page is the original design and assembly, the 14 page is the 3rd Edition to this design and the way I make custom totes for customers. The biggest difference is the way I do the lining. The 19 page shows the lining installed as integral part of panel, and the 14 page one has a lining that is separate and only attached at the top band, the seams are turned inside so that no raw edges are seen.
This is an advanced level pattern. Using Maggie's own designs for totes, we make many different types of coffee bag totes. The size of the totes can be adjusted, the tutorial explains how to adjust the patterns to the size you want to make it. The average finished size is about 18" wide, 14" tall, 6" deep.
If you want to buy two or more of my tutorials, you can send me a custom order request and I will make you a combo deal with appropriate discount that I will assess based on quantity that you want to order.
