My name is Helen Newton and I am based in Cheshire in the UK. Fabric is my passion and I love to create beautiful yet practical items from designer and vintage fabrics. Lilly*Blossom was formed in 2007 to share my enthusiasm for creating wonderful handmade possessions to be proud of.
The Lilly*Blossom collection of sewing and craft guides have been created with beginners in mind. Each one has easy to folllow step-by-step instructions in straight forward language, illustrated with lots of close up photographs.
My aim is to inspire you to create something beautiful and original. No advanced sewing experience is necessary to complete any these projects, just some basic sewing equipment, your favourite fabric and a keenness to have a go! See how easy it is to make a wonderful handmade gift for someone special.
As featured in 'Bags Beads & Brooches' magazine June 2012 UK
I designed this reversible tote bag to carry all your basic essentials for work, shopping or leisure. Just the right size for a magazine and lunch or picnics on the beach. I love to coordinate two fabrics and being reversible means you get two looks in one bag.
It would make a wonderful handmade gift for someone special filled with craft accessories, gardening gloves & seeds or knitting needles, pattern and yarn.
The finished bag measures approximately 13" wide by 11" high excluding the handles. It has an optional gusset base and easy to make ties for closure (no difficult zips)
As with all my PDF sewing guides the instructions are written in simple to follow language and are illustrated with lots of close up photographs.
You will also need some basic sewing equipment such as pins, scissors, tape measure, thimble, iron and fabric marker or tailors' chalk.
I have used a good quality cotton fabric for the designs shown but you could also use velvet, denim, wool and most medium weight fabrics.
