Passport Cover Sewing Tutorial

Pattern Description:

We are a family of six, which means that when we travel, and have to show passports, it gets a little tedious flicking through the pages of 6 different passports to find out who the heck owns which one. Behold the passport cover!! Personalize yours with your own unique style, and avoid getting lost in the passport shuffle.

This guy fits a standard 3.5 x 5 passport, and can made from a soft and lovely quilting cotton. I've kept it un-laminated, because laminated stuff sticks together, and you don't need that. These are as thin as possible, to add as little extra bulk and weight as possible. You have enough to carry. They'll also happily go through your washer on cold, and your dryer on low. They really are your new best travel buddy.

Here's a super quick and easy pattern for you to make as that perfect bon voyage gift, or to make your own travelling more stylish and organized!

I haven't included pattern pieces because they would slightly over-extend past one sheet, which is lame, and really it's just one rectangle that you need to cut out of two pieces of fabric. I recommend drawing it on gift wrap, or similar, and keeping it filed away with your sewing things for future reference.

  • *2 - fat eighths (11"x18") of different types of fabric (can use the same if you'd rather....I like contrast!) * the actual rectangles will be smaller in the tutorial....but I can't give away all of my secrets for free! *matching thread *scissors *sewing machine, or a steady hand and a heck of a lot more patience than me. *ruler or measuring tape *pins, if you could be bothered *iron...and ironing board, I suppose *passport, to make sure you're doing it right.
