Pattern Description:
Marilyn is a very classy little bag with charming gathered panels in front and a convenient pocket in back perfect for cell phone or keys! Quick and easy to make, too, since there are no zippers to insert. You'll want to make several!
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- Bag is 11" wide by 10" high
Materials:
- Main fabric: 1-1/2 yards
- Lining: 5/8 yards
- Pellon Peltex 71F (or similar): 1/2 yard
- Pellon Decor Bond (or similar): 1/2 yard
- Magnetic snap: 1/2 inch
- Large decorative button (optional)
- Thread to match fabric
You Will Also Need:
- Sewing machine and accessories
- 1/4" presser foot helpful
- Rotary cutter with sharp blade
- Cutting mat
- 6" x 24" acrylic quilter's ruler
- General sewing supplies: straight pins, scissors, seam ripper, pencil or marker, etc.

Irene Huffman primarily designs quilts, both large and small. She has recently introduced a pattern line called "My Perfect Quilt Size" (MPQS) which gives yardage, cutting, and piecing instructions for quilt designs from table topper, various table and bed runners, through lap sized to king sized quilts . . . all in a single pattern for a single price! She loves simple piecing that looks complex!
Dawna Sanders designs lovely, cheerful quilts, often multi-sized (MPQS) and frequently in the modern style.
Patricia J. Minich designs inspired purses and bags for all occasions. Her designs are fresh and original and most often contain pockets for carrying all your important "stuff". Her bag, "Courtney" was a Hoffman Challenge finalist in 2009 and was part of the traveling Hoffman show.
Courtenay Hughes is an embroidery artist extraordinaire! Her current offerings with Jazz Cat focus on lovely Colorado designs including our state flower, the Columbine!
