Anne Marcellis has been quilting for 12 years and has, like many women, tried every new craft that has come along, but found her passion in quilting. Her mother taught her to sew and to embroider when she was 6 years old. After sewing her children's clothing and her own for many years, she discovered the wonderfully fun world of quilting in 2001 when she made her first wall quilt. Anne secured the mitered borders with glue! It was then that she realized she needed to take classes at a local quilt shop. Her techniques have improved significantly, to the point of designing her own patterns and teaching in quilt shops in Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, South Carolina and Minnesota. 10 of her patterns are published on QuiltWoman.com. She has won several ribbons and People’s Choice awards at local quilt shows. She loves speaking to guilds, sharing lots of different techniques and teaching workshops.
Anne’s work combines her background in accounting with an eye for color and movement. Her patterns are very detailed including lots of diagrams with the novice in mind. She loves “thinking outside the box” and is now experimenting with a more modern and artsy approach to quilting but still combines traditional with it all. She loves trying to develop ways to make techniques easier and more confidence building. She adores all things quilty and stitchy and enjoys sharing her creative processes with other quilters.
She takes a break to crochet, knit, or play flute & piccolo, but her passion for fabric hasn’t faded. Anne is a quilter, fabric hoarder, pattern maker, teacher, and an expert seam ripperer. Creating with cloth is just in her blood and she is having fantastic time sharing her knowledge with others while making many new quilting friends.
