At last, a stylish way to keep medicines that you need to carry with you chilled. Make it with the wrist strap as pictured, or leave off the strap for an insulated zipper pouch to tuck into another bag. Finished wristlets measure approximately 10" x 5 & 1/2" (25 x 14 cm) with a 6" wrist strap.

This PDF contains a total of 11 pages with 29 photos to guide you through every step of construction. Full size, printable, pattern pieces are included along with cutting dimensions for those who'd prefer to use a rotary cutter & mat. The pattern was designed for quilting weight cottons, but other light to medium weight woven fabrics should work equally well.
An immediate need to have a compact way to carry medicine that had to be kept cold when we went to the county fair on an 86 degree day led to the inspiration for this wristlet. The prototype was tucked into a tote bag and after several hours the ice tubes were still frozen & the medicine cold. Obviously, this was not a scientific test, but we found the wristlet to be effective in keeping our medicine chilled during our outing. I've since refined the original design to make it easier to construct and just as effective. The Keep It Cool Wristlet is more compact than a baby-bottle bag and far more attractive than commercially available medicine pouches!

I currently work from home, but used to do other things that required dressing up, commuting in big city traffic, long hours, and hasty meals at my desk. In my former life I was a congressional staffer, lobbyist, management consultant, & published author. I come from a capable and artistic family and gleefully dive into just about any project that doesn't involve electricity, or heights. I've designed my own patterns for over 20 years and sew a LOT costumes for community theater groups as well as my own children and sometimes even the dogs -- who are very good sports.
