Hello! Welcome to Nelesc Designs. I am a Bronx Latina who loves to screen print and sew. I, especially, enjoy color blocking and draping with sweatshirt and t-shirt material. I also love refashioning from existing garments.
Nelesc Designs is a one woman operation done with lots of passion. I also am a mom of two boys with autism. They fuel this passion. I talk about my sewing adventures and my special needs mom journey on my blog, www.nelesc.blogspot.com
I have been selling these hats for a while here but have decided to teach you how I make them!
This pattern and tutorial is for my helmet hat. This unlined hat is composed of a base with the surrounding leaf shaped pieces appliqued on. The leaf pieces are quilted with thread. The pattern/tutorial shows you how to make a HELMET HAT that fits a 22 to 24 inch sized head.
This helmet hat was designed to be made from upcycled/recycled fabric from sweatshirts or t-shirts. It gives you a chance to reuse those sweats and tees you have around the house. However, you can use most fabrics with this pattern/tutorial, new or old.
This hat is so super warm if you make it with a sweatshirt; it covers your ears and the front leaf piece goes over your forehead pretty nicely. Made form a t-shirt, it gives you a lighter option for warmer weather if you want/need to cover your head. There are so many different options in terms of colors and fabric which make this hat a great versatile piece.
