You can make this bag with a half yard of fabric. One quarter yard for the exterior and one quarter yard for the interior.

You will make a casual and comfortable handmade messenger bag that is as unique as you. This cross body style is perfect for students, city gals, or travelers.

It is a great pattern for the beginner sewist. This pattern will walk you through each step of cutting and construction with detailed descriptions and diagrams.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Measurements: 8"L x 2"W x 9"H
  • Strap Drop: 20 inches


  • Sewing Machine
  • Iron
  • Scissors or rotary cutter
  • Pins
  • 1/4 yard bottom weight fabric
  • 1/4 yard quilting or lighter weight fabric (also can use a fat quarter)

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 1/2 inch wide x 46 inch polypropylene belting or similar material
  • 1/2 yard craft weight fusible interfacing
