Sewing has always been in my family and blood from a very young age. Watching my Aunty cutting garments freehand in amazement and spending evenings and weekends helping my Fabulous Mum with her piece work and making bride maids dresses. Going on fabric shopping trips with Mum and her always encouraging me to make and sell my creations.
There was a time when Mum came home with a whole roll of vivid bright sun yellow double knit jersey and said "I thought you could do something with it?" This fabric turned my secondary school into a sea of yellow pupils, as the orders came thick and fast including from the Teachers! My reign soon came to an end when our Head Mistress strictly announced in assembly, "There will be NO More Yellow jackets worn in school, with immediate effect as of Today!!" Remembering back it was so funny watching some of the teachers trying to hide their yellow bundles under their chairs on the stage... These were great memories that helped to shape me....
When I left School I went to study Fashion at the London College of Fashion many moons ago and went onto running my own label designing and making Hats and Bags, exhibiting at London Fashion Week amongst other fashion exhibitions and selling to high end boutiques and department stores, such as: Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Bloomingdales. I was also blessed to of had the chance to work with a several top London Fashion and Accessory Designers, where I was given the chance to explore different fashion skills and expand my learning. I then wondered in the world of Music and became a Singer, which took me on wonderful adventures far and wide, the scene died down and though I better get myself a "Proper Job"... This led me into the industry of training adults and this was where I realised where my forte really lied......Teaching!
My Mum always used to say "Everything happens for a reason" And its so true and funny how life throws different opportunities in you path that later becomes quite poignant and significant, although at time you don't really see it?
I then started to re focussed my energies into carving a new career back in Fashion, but this time teaching Fashion studies to Adults. By combining my 2 greatest skills (Fashion & Teaching) this was the BEST move I ever could have ever made!! They say "If you really enjoy your job, its not like working at"! And how true this is.....
