Pattern Description:

The pattern for The City Slicker Advanced has a full requirements list with suggestions on where to obtain your hardware, 48 pages of comprehensive instructions which include 104 step by step colour photos. There is 1 photo of the finished bag, printing instructions and test squares to print to check your scale. Cutting measurements are provided PLUS 16 Pattern pieces are included - YOU choose which you prefer to use! (Except where a pattern piece is required such as for a shaped piece!)

PLUS a TEXT ONLY version of the instructions (12 pages) comes bundled with your pattern for printing purposes, should you not need or wish to print all of the photos! Simply refer to your electronic versions for photos if needed! Saves on ink!

ALL my patterns have measurements for both Metric and Imperial and seam allowances are included too!

The CITY SLICKER Advanced is the perfect sized handbag for a day out shopping, with loads of pockets to keep organised while you shop! It features a front twist lock pocket (perfect for your keys) and a back slip pocket which is handy for quick access to your phone. A top zippered closure keeps your main compartment nice and secure. Inside you will find a zippered pocket, a pleated pocket perfect for your sunglasses, 6 slip pockets, and 2 pen pockets.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approx. 40cm (15 3/4") W X 25cm (10") H X 10cm (4") D.

  • Exterior fabric: 90 cm (1 yard) of 112cm (44") wide fabric (OR, for a 3-toned bag, black - 46cm (1/2 yard), cream - 30cm (12"), tan - 30cm (12")
  • Lining fabric: 90 cm (1 yard) of 112cm (44") wide fabric
  • Fusible interfacing: mid-weight, 110cm (42") of 112cm (44") wide interfacing [Pellon Shape-Flex SF101 is a good choice - 3m (31/4 yards)]
  • ByAnnie's Soft & Stable: 46cm X 91cm (18" X 36"), or substitute with Headliner Foam and a heavy weight interfacing for the exterior (you can also use fusible fleece, however, you will end up with a bag that is more floppy)
  • Fusible Fleece: 20cm (8") 971F Thermolam Plus for the Straps, Front Pocket & Front Pocket Flap.
  • Matching thread (I use Gutermann Polyester)

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 X 20cm (8") dress zipper or longer, cut down to size for interior zipper pocket
  • 1 X 48cm (19") handbag zipper or longer, cut down to size for your zipper closure
  • 1 X twist lock. I've used one which is 60mm x 28mm ( 2 3/4" x 1 1/16" )
  • 4 X 2.5cm (1") inner diameter rings
  • 12 X 8mm (⅓") rivets (optional)
  • 2 X 2.5cm (1") inner diameter rectangular sliders for side strap decoration (optional)
  • Double-sided Wonder Tape (optional BUT very handy)
  • Small amount of fray stopper and craft glue for setting twist lock (optional BUT makes the job more professional)
