Pattern Description:

I loved seeing the Sunburst Afghan pictures appearing online but unfortunately don't have much skill with yarn.

Since I love English Paper Piecing, I designed this pattern to with inspirations from the crochet pattern. It features a center Sunburst with another round of color brought in by the 1" diamonds.

This pattern is designed for those that already have basic knowledge of English Paper Piecing. There are links for basting/sewing included if you need a refresher.


  • One 1" Hexagon Paper Template
  • Six 1" Jewel Paper Templates
  • Eighteen 1" Six Point Diamond Paper Templates
  • Six 1" Half Hexagon Paper Templates
  • Six 2" Six Point Diamond Paper Templates
  • Fabric: One 2.5" square for center, Six 2.5" squares for jewels, Nine 2.5" squares for 1" diamonds, Three 2.5" squares and Six 3.5" squares of background fabric
