Pattern Description:

My Year of Design I is a collection of design exercises meant to help you broaden your horizons as a quilter and break out of your comfort zone. The collection is part of a series of exercises published weekly at This set of 13 exercises was published from January through March 2014.
"My Year of Design" is an open project without deadlines, commitments or restrictions. You can start anytime and you decide whether you work on all the suggested projects and exercises or just as you can spare the time. If you would like to see what other quilters have made based on My Year of Design exercises, please go to the MYoD gallery at
The introduction and the exercises for week 1 and 2 are also available as a free sample here at Craftsy.
If you purchase this set of exercises and decide afterwards that you would like to become a member, please let us know. We'll give you three extra months of membership.

  • Sketchbook, ca. DIN A4 or letter format
  • Pens, pencils
  • a regular dice with 6 numbered sides
  • optional: fabric scraps, sewing machine, needles, thread, scissors

  • Recommended: a binder where you put all MYoD exercises, your sketches and other supporting material
