Are there any instructions to go with this pattern.. In particular, I would like to know how large to cut the pieces to be used in this pattern.

Hi Michele,

The size of the pieces you cut depends on the size block you're making. The easiest approach is to print a spare paper foundation at the size you'll be sewing. Cut the foundation into its component pieces, and use these as "templates" to help you cut the right sizes and shapes from your fabrics

The exact size isn't critical. I usually cut my pieces about 3/8 - 1/2" larger all around, to have plenty of leeway when paper piecing, then trim off any extra seam allowance after I've sewn each seam.

If you need a basic tutorial on how to paper piece, you might enjoy my free one here:

There are also YouTube videos on paper piecing, some of which are quite good. Hope this helps!

Hi! I just decided to try my hand at paper-piecing for the first time last night, and with my limited time I got half of my block done (2 quarters). I love this pattern and used some leftover Halloween fabrics to make my block. Thanks for the free pattern! It was definitely good for a first-timer!!

Hi! Even though it's a free pattern, you do need to click on the "Add Pattern to Cart" button on the pattern page. Click on the "View your cart" link if you're not automatically taken there. Then click on the "Add to My Library" link.

You can then download all of your purchased and free Patterns immediately from Your Pattern Library under Your Account (in the upper-right corner of the screen).

I hope this helps. If you have any difficulties with this, please contact Thanks!
