Pattern Description:

This simple, fun, and free quilt pattern was made available as part of the 2012 100 Quilts for Kids Charity Quilt drive. This is definitely a beginner friendly quilt, and is available as a baby or throw size quilt. The quilt can easily be made with scraps or assorted fat quarters and half yards, prints or solids, or a mix of both.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Baby Quilt: 40'' x 48''; Throw Quilt: 64'' x 80'' (it is simple to make the quilt bigger or smaller depending on how much "negative space" fabric you add on each side of the strings)

Materials:

  • Baby Quilt: 1 jelly roll, string scraps, or 4-6 fat quarters, 1.5 yards solid white fabric, 2 yards backing, 1/2 yard binding; For Throw Quilt: Jelly roll, string strips, or 6-8 FQs (with a few longer strips), 3.5 yards white fabric, 4.5 yards backing, 5/8 yard binding

You Will Also Need:

  • Sewing machine, paper for foundating piecing, glue stick, thread, ruler, rotary cutter, pins, and a marking tool (water soluble marker or hera marker work well
