Basic Skills Necessary:

  • basic sewing, very easy quilting, binding

Pattern Description:

This is a "Mug Rug" set for children! The little tray is so simple a child could make it. The little boat is what is different about this set. It will hold dry snacks like veggies, crackers, cookies, popcorn, etc. What child wouldn't be thrilled to have this! This could be a quick and easy birthday gift. How about an entire set of them for the grandchildren? This is also a great way to find a use for some of those adorable beach and ocean novelty fabrics!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 11" x 10" for tray, 3" x 6" for boat


  • fat quarter of beach or water themed fabric
  • coordinating fat quarter for contrasting border (stripe) and binding
  • batting or fleece (11" x 12") for tray and scrap 3" x 6" for boat bottom
  • 'backing fabric for tray 11" x 12"
  • cotton duck or heavier fabric for boat bottom (2 layers each about 3" x 6")
  • fabric piece 2 1/2" x 15" for outside boat sides
  • fabric piece 2 1/2" x 15" for lining of boat sides and 3" x 6" for lining boat bottom
  • scrap of stiffened craft felt for oars
