Transcendental Transcendental

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic machine stitching (optional), ironing

Pattern Description:

Felted wool is wonderful to work with - and lends itself to many interpretations. Transcendental is part of the Palm series, evoking other lands and ways of life. While the designs are inspired by the Far East, the title (and center) of the wall hanging is inspired by an American treasure - Emerson. He wrote on the transparent eyeball, and was the father of the Transcendental movement - inspiring many to "transcend" or move beyond their current state into a higher awareness (and therefore respect for) their natural surroundings. Create your own Transcendental inspiration!

The project is made with felted wools, but could also be made with cottons or batiks.
