Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic sewing; quilting layering, basting, and binding

Pattern Description:

Sharks and seaweed swirl inside a water droplet in this fusible appliqu quilt. Complete instructions also include directions for a matching pillow.

Directions are given for finishing raw-edge appliques with embroidery, and a bonus stitch guide illustrates two useful hand stitching techniques. Full size applique templates with printing instructions are also included.

My youngest son loves sharks and inspired this quilt. He loves it, and I hope you do, too!!


  • Quilt appliques: (2) 1/2 yards deep blue and aqua prints
  • Quilt appliques: (5) fat quarters (model shows light orange, dark orange, navy, turquoise, and white prints)
  • Background: 1 3/4 yds. 90"+ premium muslin
  • Quilt backing: 4 yds. coordinating fabric
  • Quilt batting: 1 3/4 yds. 90"+ wide batting (twin size)
  • Quilt binding: 1 yd. (for 3" wide bias-cut strips)
  • Double-sided light-weight fusible web: 2 3/4 yds.

You Will Also Need:

  • 6-stranded cotton embroidery floss to match each applique fabric
  • Computer printer, 8 1/2" X 11" copy paper, and tape for printing applique templates
