Pattern Description:

Let's go exploring on the beach and pick up shells with the "Seashore Fun" mini quilt! The bright colors on this little quilt will delight any young ocean lover.
This baby quilt is a whole cloth quilt, which means that you cut the front, back and batting all the same size as the finished quilt. The applique sea shells are sewn with the fabric edges raw, exposed. It is designed to fray to the stitches, giving a textured, folk look to the quilt.
The applique and the quilting are done at the same time. There is no binding; the edges are finished by sewing all around and then clipping the edges to fray.

Every step in this quilt was planned to create the most beautiful quilt possible in the most efficient way possible.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approximately 21x18 inches (53cmx46cm)

  • 2 fat quarters (18x21 inches or 45x53 cm) cotton fabric for the front and back
  • 1 fat quarter (18x21 inches or 45x53 cm) cotton flannel fabric for the middle layer (This fabric will show at the clipped edges of the quilt)
  • 1 piece cotton 6 x21 inches (15x53cm) for border fabric
  • 3 small pieces to make the shells about 7 inches (17.8cm) square

You Will Also Need:

  • Darning foot or free motion foot accessory for your sewing machine (optional)
