Basic Skills Necessary:

  • sewing 1/4" seams, learn an applique technique

Pattern Description:

Turn a vacation memory into a piece of art. Inspired by Motif #1, a building that is painted by thousands of artists on Bearskin Neck in Rockport, MA, this quilt gives the feel of the sea with striking colors. The buoys depicted are from a lost art--the wooden buoys carved and painted by hand. If your lucky, you can find a gentleman in Rockport, who still makes these. A few of these shown are from our collection of his works of art.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 52" x 78"


  • fabrics for buoy applique, rich reds for the background

You Will Also Need:

  • lightweight fusible interfacing, thread to match applique
