Basic Skills Necessary:

  • know the basics of how to fuse fabric
  • know basic hand embroidery stitches

Pattern Description:

Here's a basket full of colorful flowers to cheer you up. Poppy's Posies is a quick quilt made with fused fabrics.

Complete directions for creating the woven basket along with patterns and directions for making this wall quilt are included.

  • 15" x 15" orange batik for background
  • 10" x 7" of light blue fabric for wall
  • 10" x 3 1/2" of red to purple fabric for tablecloth
  • 9" x 9" of light orange fabric for basket A strips
  • 9" x 9" of light green fabric for basket B strips
  • 8" x 7" of red to orange fabric for poppies
  • 8" x 4" of yellow fabric for flower centers
  • 7" x 7" of green fabric for stems and leaves
  • 1 1/2 yards of fusible web (Wonder Under #805 recommended)
  • 13" x 13" batting (Hobbs Heirloom Premium 80/20 Batting recommended)
  • 13" x 13" Timtex stiff interfacing
  • 13" x 13" backing fabric
  • Black Sharpie Fine Point marker or lead pencil
  • Rotary cutter, mat, and ruler
  • Decorative rotary cutter blade (pinking blade recommended)
  • Size 8 or 12 embroidery thread
  • Size 4 or 5 embroidery needle
  • Machine quilting thread
