This pattern includes links to videos for detailed instructions on how to make bias tape by several popular methods. Use your favorite method!
Applique just one block for a wall hanging, several blocks for a lap quilt or make enough blocks for a bed sized quilt. These Celtic hearts could also be appliqued free form onto a large background, making a unique medallion style quilt. Try mixing all the sizes of hearts together in one project!
Use almost any large scale print to make a special theme quilt. For example, find a fabric printed with your favorite items: butterflies, cranes, geishas, cats, zoo animals, cowboys, clowns or flower bouquets. There are so many wonderful large scale prints to choose from! For the small size heart, the desired printed area of fabric is needs to be approximately 6 1/2" square, for the medium size heart at least 7 1/2" square and for the large heart at least 9 1/2" square.
Consider using inkjet printed pictures for a family history quilt, a wedding or anniversary quilt or as any other kind of remembrance or special occasion quilt. Since you can make your own quilt layout for this block, try a traditional block setting; straight, on point, with a lattice or with alternate plain blocks. You could design your own medallion quilt by mixing this block with other applique or pieced blocks of your choice.
