Pattern Description:

This pattern is one of the twenty-eight 8" square state bird applique blocks from my quilt 'Symbols of Our Unity'.

The Mountain Bluebird is the state bird of Idaho and Nevada. The pattern contains the layout for the applique and detailed embroidery instructions. Both left and right handed instructions are included for the embroidery.

This 8" pattern is perfect for creating a mini-quilt to fit the Ackfeld 12" x 14" table stand. Make one for that friend who resides in Idaho or Nevada.

Materials:

  • One 9" square background fabric
  • One 5" square white fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One 5" square pale blue fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One 5" square medium light blue fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One 5" square medium blue fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One 4" square black fabric for bird
  • One 6" square medium brown fabric for tree branches
  • Plastic template
  • Applique thread to match fabrics
  • Embroidery floss, three different greens, black, white and gray
  • 21-25 small golden brown beads
