Wall Hanging

Skill Level:

small skill level requirement Beginner

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • The embroidery part of the pattern in suitable for complete beginners as photo instructions are given for backstitch (the only handstitch needed). Some patchwork sewing and machining experience is useful for making the borders and backing for the wallhanging.

Pattern Description:

A magical trip to Paris a few years ago inspired this easy-to-sew emboidery design using the signature French colours of deep red and cream.

The design is hand-drawn and a little rustic, so it's very forgiving for all stitchers, including beginners. The Eiffel Tower, wonderful buildings and overhanging trees are fast and fun to sew using three strands of embroidery cotton.

Full written instructions are included, as are 18 colour photos to show every step. These show you how to trace the pattern, do backstitch, add the inner and outer borders, make a backing and add a hanging sleeve at the back so you can hang the wallhanging. All instructions are given in inches and centimetres.

Of course, you could use the design for something other than a wallhanging. Size it up for stitching inserts into a quilt, or make a cushion. You could stitch it into an amazing Christmas table runner. Or size it down and use one or two strands of cotton to make a really special Christmas card.

You'll be in Paris in mind, if not in body!
