Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Choose your fabrics! :)
  • Piece a 1/4" seam
  • Iron seam allowances
  • Change feet on your machine
  • Layer your top, batting & backing
  • Bind your quilt.

Pattern Description:

It looks like triangles, but it's not! This fun, easy topper is made only with squares!

Easy enough for a beginner, fun enough for a master quilter!

This topper can be made in a VERY short time or adapted to make a much larger quilt.

(P.S. Children - and many adults - love the dimension of this technique too...)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 18 1/2" x 18 1/2"


  • Sewing machine with 1/4" foot and walking foot
  • Thread
  • 20" x 20" batting
  • 20" x 20" backing
  • 16 - 5" squares (lights)
  • 16- 5" squares (darks)
  • 2 strips of fabric 2 1/4" wide by the wof (1/3 yd) for binding
  • 1 covered button (if so desired)

You Will Also Need:

  • Sewing tools (rotary cutter, scissors, seam ripper, etc.)
  • Iron
  • Pressing mat or board
  • Pins
