Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic embroidery skills
  • Basic silk ribbon embroidery skills
  • Basic quilting kills

Pattern Description:

I love silk ribbon embroidery, regular embroidery, and applique, so decided to combine the three and make little wall hangings. I love making mini-quilts because they are so much faster than big quilts. Plus the make great gifts for so many occasions. Detailed instructions for the silk ribbon and regular embroidery are included. And as always, my patterns have instructions for both left handed and right handed.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 7" x 14"


  • Three 5" squares background fabric
  • Two 1" width of fabric strips for sashing
  • Two 1-3/4" width of fabric strips for border
  • One fat quarter for backing
  • Two 2-1/2" width of fabric strips for binding
  • Two 4mm greens silk ribbon for leaves
  • One 4mm color silk ribbon for flowers
  • One 4mm color for french knots
  • Green embroidery floss or DMC Floche for leaves and stems
  • Embroidery floss to match applique
  • Embroider floss for french knots
  • Ten 4mm flat heart beads for flowers
  • One 6mm butterfly bead
  • Scraps of cotton fabrics (no smaller than 3") for applique

You Will Also Need:

  • Embroidery needles
  • Sewing machine and related supplies
  • Scissors
  • Parchment paper if using paperless fusible
  • Pencil
