Pattern Description:

This 8" finished applique block is one of the twenty-nine blocks in my quilt "Symbols of Our Unity" that represents all the state birds with our national bird, the eagle, in the center.

Get your favorite bird pattern, or those that represent all the states you have lived in. Make a mini-quilt for someone you love with their state bird.

  • 8" finished


  • One 9" square background fabric
  • One 8" square black fabric for bird
  • One 3" square lighter black fabric for bird
  • One 8" square brown fabric for branch
  • One 5" square white fabric for bird
  • One 2" square gray fabric for beak
  • Plastic Template
  • Three different green embroidery floss
  • Black embroidery floss
  • White embroidery floss
  • One light gray and one dark gray embroidery floss
  • 21-25 small golden brown beads
  • Applique thread to match fabrics
