Pattern Description:

The Konkret I cushion was inspired by the vanguard design concepts by the famous German Bauhaus architects and artists in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin between 1919 and 1933.

The project needs 2 1/2 and 1 1/2" wide strips cut from black and grey solids plus two additional colours.

The design was made from Lipari and Calluna fabrics by Oakshott Fabrics.The Callunas are reverse coloured shot herringbone weaves - which results in two colours and two usable sides:

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 16 by 24 (40 cm by 60 cm)

Materials:

  • Black fabric: 1 Fat Eighth
  • Grey fabric: 1 Fat Eighth
  • Pink and blue fabrics: 1 Fat Quarter each
  • Batting: ca. 18 by 26 (45 cm x 65 cm)
  • Backing: ca. 18 by 26 (45 cm x 65 cm)
  • For the cushion back: Black Fabric: ca. 20 by 26 (50 cm x 65 cm)

You Will Also Need:

  • Rotary cutter, cutting mat, rulers
  • Template material plus tool to cut templates
  • Matching sewing thread
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Sewing machine
  • Safety pins or basting thread
  • Optional: tools for machine quilting (e. g. gloves)
  • Matching or contrasting quilting threads
  • A zip, ca. 20 (50 cm) long
