Pattern Description:

Got scraps? Got some serious stash? Throw them together and kick them up into this fabulously scrappy quilt! Scrap blocks can be made either "Planned Scrappy", containing four fabrics per block, or "Completely Scrappy", where the amount of fabrics per block is limited only by your stash size. Maybe size does matter after all. Blocks go together quickly and easily and contain virtually NO MATCHING POINTS. This is a fantastic pattern for using up even the smallest scraps of some of your favorite fabrics, and even works with the ends of jelly rolls! Advanced beginners and up. Four sizes.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Four sizes Baby to Double/Queen

Materials:

  • THIS PATTERN HAS FOUR DIFFERENT SIZES AND TWO DIFFERENT SCRAPPY OPTIONS. THE FOLLOWING ARE THE MATERIALS YOU WOULD NEED TO MAKE THE "PLANNED SCRAPPY" LAP/TWIN VERSION SHOWN ON THE PATTERN COVER.
  • 72 scraps of a 3 1/2" x 15" or equivalent size
  • 3 3/4 yards background fabric
  • 3/4 yard border fabric
  • 3/4 yard binding fabric
  • 5 yards backing and batting

You Will Also Need:

  • Lots of scraps a plus, but totally unnecessary - that's why God invented quilt shops!

I love the scrappy look you get from the random color distribution, but I think it would also look great if you wanted to be a bit more deliberate in your color placement. I am thinking I might make another Kickin' Stash quilt in the future - Heaven knows I have plenty of scraps to choose ...

I probably started sewing as a measure of self defense; if my mom was busy teaching me about 5/8" seams and casings for elastics, there was no way she could whip up yet another set of matching floor length gowns for my sister and I to wear while posing for photos at the local Sears photo studio.

While my mom sewed all manner of things, quilts were never one of them. I discovered quilting on my ...
