You need a total of 49 strips for this size, which means buying 2 jelly rolls (usually 40 strips in a roll). You could use up 8 of the leftover ones in the binding if you wanted it to have a scrappy look
Alternatively you could buy one jelly roll and 3 fat quarters of your favourite designs in the line.

I love this pattern! I really like that the number of jelly rolls needed was included in each quilt size.. that is a big help to a newbie. This is my third quilt...about to quilt the top, well I should say re-quilt the top. I have made some newbie mistakes. I took one of the online classes, I think perfect piecing.... very valuable info. Not all my squares lined up nicely, but everything was measured correctly....I had used too much pressure pressing my seams and ended up stretching the fabric. I also have a new sewing machine and had run out of thread just as I started. Ran to get thread and got back to sewing. I was almost done, when I noticed my threads were starting to come undone and I had locked my stitches. I turned my quilt over and there were loops all on the back where I re-threaded... I threaded my machine like my old one...oopsie. Well, at least it was easy to rip those seams. I think I will alter the quilting a bit so that my mistakes won't be as noticeable. So now that I have figured out my mistakes. I am making one for my brother... I found a cool southwestern jelly roll and bought two. I am using a light beige instead of the white and I think I'll make a mini one for his dog.

how many jelly rolls would a king size need?

You need 83 strips for the king size, so that means buying 3 jelly rolls. A cheaper way to do it would be to buy 2 jelly rolls (that's 80 strips) and a quarter yard of one of the fabrics in the jelly roll.

Does anyone know if the lap quilt and twin sizes call for one jelly roll or two?

I think its one large jelly roll but I would buy two the extra fabric can be used to add to a different quilt...

The first three sizes just use one jelly roll, the twin and queen sizes need two

I used two, because I like a scrappy binding and wanted to pick and choose the strips.
